We have a meteor camera on Møn, joining the Global Meteor Network and the Nordic Meteor Network.
Observations from the camera will be added to data from other cameras placed all over the world, and the meteors paths are calculated.
The collected data can be used for:
- Calculating whether the meteor is originating from a comet or an asteroid
- Calculating where large meteorites will land on earth
- Discover unknown asteroids
- Calculating whether an asteroid is heading for somewhere in our vicinity
The Nordic Meteor Network is a collection of public citizens, astronomers and academics who share the goals of observing and learning about the night sky.
We manage meteor cameras that each night record meteors and meteor showers above Denmark, as well as satellites and other atmospheric phenomenon.
